The Skala™ 60L Multi-Day Pack offers the same level of support as our 50L, but with a little more room to go that extra mile–or twenty. Designed to do its own heavy lifting, this labor-saving backpack’s main objective is supreme comfort, allowing you to pack even more without sacrificing efficiency. The AlumaLite frame distributes the weight of the pack to your shoulders and hips while maintaining strength and flexibility as you move. The harness micro adjusts to fit most torsos, and load lifters keep the top of the pack closer to your body so you and your gear stay balanced, especially on uneven terrain. Durable and ergonomic, this pack features lightweight and weather-resistant Guardcore™ Nylon and a vented mesh back panel that provides a channel of air to keep your back cool and dry. The RipZip Opening makes it easy to get to your most needed items whether they're at the top of your pack or somewhere in the middle and various internal and external pockets separate heavy layers from cookware and toiletries, keeping them safe and in place. Whether you’re spending five months on the Pacific Crest Trail or chasing a weekend summit, the Skala™ 60L Multi-Day Pack has you covered every step of the journey.
A vented, mesh back panel and padded, contoured shoulder straps with load lifters keep your back cool and dry and provide superior weight distribution. The pack’s AlumaLite frame is lightweight and ultra-supportive, and Guardcore™ Nylon makes this pack as light as it is strong.
The pack’s harness micro adjusts to accommodate torsos small and tall for a balanced fit on the most uneven terrain.
Equipped with a pull-to-open RipZip feature, you’ve got a clear view and rapid access to everything you need inside your pack. Stretch-woven hydration holsters sit snugly against your pack for optimal reach, and a separate compartment at the very bottom is there to store away your sleeping bag.
Various internal and external pockets keep sunglasses, safety kits, cookware, and headlamps separate and secure so on treks that run long, the only thing you’re digging for is a cathole.
The Skala™ 50 liter and 60 liter Multi-Day Packs are great for multi-day and multi-week hikes whereas the Skala™ 32 liter and 40 liter Hiking Packs are better suited for day-long excursions and shorter trips.
The Skala™ 50 liter and 60 liter Multi-Day Packs are not likely to be accepted by most airlines as a carry-on. The Skala™ 32 liter and 40 liter Hiking Packs should fit in most overhead bins, but always check with your airline as many airlines have different restrictions.
There are several things to consider when choosing the right backpack, starting with your trip length. Will it be a day-long excursion, weekend backpacking trip, or a multi-week adventure? This question will help determine how much gear you’ll need to carry. If your trip is short and your gear is minimal, a smaller pack may work. If you’re going on a longer trek and want to bring more gear, bulkier and heavier items, or need a dedicated compartment for a sleeping bag, you should opt for a larger pack as this will require additional space. Next, think about the season and the weather conditions. In the summer, or in warmer climates, you can pack less, while fall and winter trips will call for extra layers and additional gear. Finally, consider your packing style. If you’re comfortable with fewer items, a smaller pack is ideal. If you prefer bringing extra comforts from home and don’t mind the added weight, go for the larger pack. For more detailed recommendations, check out our buying guide.
Each Skala™ Hiking Pack has a different fit for men and women. However, since the men’s size has a more standardized harness, we recommended it as our unisex offering.
We designed the women’s Skala™ Hiking Pack based on extensive research and fit studies to ensure it accurately accommodates the female form rather than being a scaled-down version of a men’s pack. The biggest improvement comes in the shoulder harness—we updated the curvature, arc, and length to better match women’s torsos for optimal comfort and stability. In addition, the waistbelt comes in two sizes, allowing for a more personalized fit across a wide range of body types. These changes make the pack significantly more ergonomic and supportive.
To adjust the harness for the best fit and most comfortable carry, start by setting the torso length using the adjustable harness system. Next, tighten the hip belt so it sits snugly on your hip bones, then adjust the shoulder straps to bring the pack closer to your back. Finally, adjust the load lifters and the sternum strap for optimal balance and stability. For more detailed step-by-step instructions, visit our Fitting & Sizing Guide.
No, the storage capacity does not change with the different harness sizes of the Skala™ Hiking Pack. The harness size only affects how the bag fits your body, not how much gear it holds. For example, if you choose a size Small in a 50 liter pack and your friend chooses a size Large in the same 50 liter pack, both packs will have the same 50 liter capacity, they will just be adjusted differently for each individual fit.
The maximum recommended carry weight depends on the specific pack and how well you can distribute the load inside of it. Most of our packs are designed to perform their best while carrying in the 35–40 lb range. As a general rule of thumb, we advise not exceeding 20% of your body weight for ultimate comfort and safety.
Most hydration reservoirs, up to a 3L capacity, should be compatible with the Skala™ Hiking Pack.
Our Yonder® Water Bottles, Packing Cubes, and any other YETI® creature comfort you can fit in the Skala™ Hiking Pack.
Yes, Mystery Ranch® Void Bags, Web Keepers, Bear Spray Holsters, and the Pack Fly. Though these were not designed specifically for this pack, they should be compatible with the Skala™ Hiking Pack, but be sure to check the attachment points on the pack for confirmation.
For the best clean, we recommend wiping it down with a wet cloth. That being said, these packs were made to take a beating and wear those scars proudly, so feel free to keep that patina going as it will not affect the functionality or durability of the pack.
The Skala™ Hiking Pack is water resistant. There are components of the pack that are waterproof, but the pack as a whole is not completely waterproof.
There are quite a few straps on the pack, so we made sure to place elastic web keepers to help wrangle those loose ends.
Yes, it is covered by YETI’s 3-year limited warranty.
